Story
In TimeSplitters, the most in-depth mode for the single player is the Story mode.
This mode goes through a number of different missions in many different locales, often with different objectives.
The Story mode is also the only way to unlock a number of characters and certain Arcade Custom maps.

AppearancesEdit

TimeSplitters Edit

In the original TimeSplitters, the plot of each mission usually consists of nothing more than "stopping the TimeSplitters". Various "heroes" must complete missions, which usually consist of retrieving an object and taking it back to the spawn point in a set amount of time. The levels are split into three equal groups, each containing a level set in the far past, near the present day (which was 2000 when the game was released) and in the future (notably, 2005 is now in the past), within which, the levels may be completed in any order. These levels when ordered chronologically, have systematic 15 year gaps between levels in similar time periods and 5 year gaps between these periods. While it might be assumed that the three levels from the future aren't given correct dates (the technology featured is very optimistic, such that 2005, 2020, and 2035 might more realistically portray 2050, 2200, and 2350 respectively), a simpler explanation would be that, as quite often happens in science fiction, a future time setting doesn't pan out as being realistic. Note too however, that a 2005 with rampant cyborgs might have actually existed due to TimeSplitter meddling, only to be erased/rewritten due to the events of later games. It is also possible that the original game was 'non-canon' as it bears little relation to its sequels.

TimeSplitters 2 Edit

In TimeSplitters 2, Sergeant Cortez and Corporal Hart are sent to the Space Station which has been overrun by TimeSplitters during this period. In order to protect the Time Crystals, the TimeSplitters take nine crystals and hide them through out time. Cortez and Hart manage to take hold of the Time Portal room and during which, Cortez leaps through the portal into others in order to regain the crystals to take back to the Space Station. TimeSplitters 2 was also the game which introduced Main Objectives and Secondary Objectives, which appear in all missions.

TimeSplitters Future Perfect Edit

In TimeSplitters Future Perfect, Cortez returns to Earth with the Time Crystals. The TimeSplitters invasion has gotten worse, so the General decides the only way to stop them once and for all is to go back in time and destroy the source of the Time Crystals. With help from Anya and others, Cortez uncovers the mystery of the TimeSplitters and chases the creator Jacob Crow through time in a quest to save humanity.
