TimeSplitters Edit

Unlike the MapMakers in later games, the MapMaker in TimeSplitters doesn't seem to follow a pattern. Every tile is different, making for very unusual maps. There are also a few unique options in TimeSplitters' MapMaker that were taken out of later installments in the series, such as the ability to place multiple items on the same tile.

There were 5 Tilesets available: Industrial - based on the Cyberden, Gothic - based on the Graveyard, Virtual - a basic tileset with white walls, Alien - based on Planet X and Spaceport - based on Spaceways.

TimeSplitters 2 Edit

Beginning in TimeSplitters 2, the MapMaker has the ability to make Story levels. Also, small rooms cost a lot of space compared to a Large Room, and spawning points cost some space. Available Tilesets were Victorian, a Victorian-era warehouse, Industrial, a pipe-laden sewer system, Alien, a high-tech sterile spaceship and Virtual, a white-lined simulator. Unlike on other games, none of the tilesets relate directly to an existing map, however they are partially similar to Chicago (Victorian), Siberia and NeoTokyo (Industrial), Return to Planet X (Alien), and Notre Dame (Gothic).

Gothic TilesetEdit

The Gothic Tileset was originally set to appear in TimeSplitters 2, but it was removed from the game before release due to glitched tiles. However, it is possible to view the Tileset with the Action Replay for GameCube.

The code is:

  • G2EB-VKHJ-1JXVF
  • 1XZ1-K0KJ-HMD2E

The Gothic Tileset is called "4" in the MapMaker menu. It looked like a dark, evil 12th century castle, and many tiles featured fire & lava.

TimeSplitters Future Perfect MapmakerEdit

For the first time, it is possible to add a sky, decorations, barricades, and up to four Zeeps/Turbo Buggies to your MapMaker levels. The sky's weather conditions can be adjusted for effects such as rain or snow.

"Stackable" rooms can also be added, and if stacked, don't have a floor. For example, a "Stacked Small Open" tile, stacked five floors, is basically a five floor pit.

"Special Tiles" have also been added, such as the "Slide", which is a one tile, one-way ramp. A "Death Room" is also available, which kills any player that walks into it. Each tileset has unique death rooms. the Military tileset has a death room rigged with mines, the Horror, Lab and Egyptian tileset has lethal spikes, and VR tileset has a "force-field" type death room.

Available Tilesets were Lab, a generic, sterile lab (based on You Genius, U-Genix); Military, a generic bunker-stronghold (based on Bunker and The Russian Connection); Egyptian, an ancient Egyptian tomb/temple (based on Tomb); Horror, a decaying, haunted manor (based on Mansion of Madness); and Virtual, a surreal-yet-extremely-generic computer simulation (based on VR).

Downsides Edit

The MapMaker has a limit on how much memory can be used on any one map. Once that limit has been hit, it is impossible to add any more tiles or objects unless objects already in place are deleted to make more room. In TimeSplitters Future Perfect this can be overcome to an extent with Biohazard's Map Memory Glitch.

Unfortunately, TimeSplitters Future Perfect's MapMaker can only include a maximum of eight players in each player-created map. This is due to an unknown glitch. All the AI Bot slots can be filled in the enemies roster, but only the first six will spawn. This glitch only applies to Arcade Custom maps. In Mapmaker Story maps you can place fifty story enemies, but only nineteen can be in existence at once.
