Chinese is a map from the original TimeSplitters and later returning in every game, being the only map sporting the claim. It is set at a Chinese restaurant and includes the gardens round about it. The main action points of the map are in the kitchen and around the garden. Chinese also features an Easter Egg: in the reception room there is a gong which can be punched or fired upon to make it sound.

Appearance[]

Chinese appears in all three games; however in each game, it changes its appearance. In the original TimeSplitters the colour of the curtains on the walls and the lamps are red, there is a chair in the basement but no tunnel.

In TimeSplitters 2, the colour scheme is green (posing that there is a new year) and one of the cupboards in the basement has moved.

In TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, there is a tunnel connection the basement to outside as well as the chair being gone.

All versions have the same layout bar the tunnel from TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. The main lobby is a moderately open room with a gong at the end. Upstairs progresses to two dining rooms with Chinese décor. Each dining room has a door that leads to some toilets. One of the dining room's door also leads to the kitchen; the other dining room leads to an auxiliary room. The kitchen leads to the basement as well as each side of the outdoor passageway.

The outside section consists of a perimeter passageway, an oriental garden and a small open building next to it.

Trivia[]

  • Chinese also has possibly the largest window pane in the games; it can be found in the customer entrance above the doors.
  • There's blood in both bathrooms and on the chair in the basement.
  • In the main lobby there is a gong which the player can melee or shoot to produce a gong noise. Strangely, in Future Perfect, the gong cannot be punched and must be shot.
  • In TimeSplitters 2, if you are looking at dead characters and a lot of plates break in the kitchen, the bodies will suddenly disappear.
