The Changelings are shape-shifters that take have morphed into the appearance of Maidens. They share the same features as Maiden such as having long blonde hair and a white tattered dress. However, they are distinguishable through their dark beady eyes and their peculiar jawless mouth.

The Changelings as a race appear for the first time in TimeSplitters 2, and as the only one at that point, earned the title "Changeling". The Changeling appeared in the Notre Dame mission as a trap to fool players when rescuing Maidens, although they have the same movement and attack pattern as zombies. Other than the mission, she appears nowhere but the Bot Sets Hospital and Freaks.

The Changeling reappears in TimeSplitters Future Perfect. The only difference with the Changeling's appearance in Timesplitters Future Perfect is that it now has a metal collar around its neck, which it shares with the Maiden (the Changeling did not have the collar around its neck in Timesplitters 2). Though there is a new Changeling in the form of Jo-Barf Creepy, it shares different quirks in its interpretation of the original person. While the Maiden Changeling only shares differences in the eyes and mouth/jaw, this new Jo-Barf Creepy Changeling is taller, the face is completely different, clothing is not as accurately copied and it can lose its head. The Changeling's only appearance is in Vamping in Venice, an Arcade League challenge.

StoryEdit

1895, Notre Dame CathedralEdit

Main article: Notre Dame (Story)

The Changelings were attracted to Notre Dame Cathedral by the dark magic practised by Jacque de la Morte. The Changeling spirits morphed into the forms of the Maidens and trapped themselves like their counterparts. Viola and Mister Underwood entered the Cathedral to defeat the evil of Notre Dame and prevent Jacque de la Morte from continuing his necromancy. The Maidens were freed, and the Changelings killed.

What Lies BelowEdit

The same Changeling spirits are presumed to be the beings that attempted to copy Jo-Beth Casey's appearance, becoming Jo-Barf Creepy.

TriviaEdit

• Jo-Barf Creepy's appearance varies markedly from Jo-Beth Casey's, unlike Maiden and Changeling who are very similar in appearance.
• The Changeling's voice is the exact same as the Maiden's, however it is lower in pitch.
